We bought a new washer and dryer this week- when our current washer goes through spin cycle it sounds like a machine gun firing for five minutes. No exaggerations- I need to leave the room when we run it, because it hurts my ears and disturbs me psychologically. One of these days soon it’s going to shoot itself, and then we’ll be a household of 7, and desperate. So we’re taking advantage of the black friday sales and buying a new set. I’m prepared for heartbreak (because that’s my nature) but I’m also very excited by the possibility of running a big load of wash in 30 minutes- including, just hypothetically, and entire bed’s worth of damp sheets, pads, and pillowcases, if that were to ever be necessary.
Babbee caught a plane back to Lubbock early in the week, and rather than mourn her departure we got right to the task at hand, which was surviving the day-to-day with three kids. We’re managing, but just like last week it put a lot of strain on Molly that I was trying to finish the house projects (prior to more guests arriving) and also researching and shopping for the new appliances, which was somehow about as complicated as shopping for the minivan. Being a “value shopper” perhaps means not valuing one’s time while researching and shopping for a value- time suck.
Eliza is almost a month old now, and she smiles beautifully (sometimes gas-related, and others not) mostly sleeps well, and is still adored by her brothers. They could not be better with her, although of course she gets hit by flying objects occasionally, and woken by sudden nearby screams and cackles.
Next week will be a better photo week- scout’s honor- although I’m still going to have my nose in wood-putty and paint cans every day- and Molly will be busy trying to keep the boys out of my wood-putty and paint cans. They are almost unstoppable.
Here’s a huge hunk of cuteness from a few days back:
Wow. That video is so precious! Thanks for continuing this. I hope you’re all doing well:)
