I see the moon and the moon sees me, god bless the car and the car bless me. We’re going to be rich on the royalties of these fine songs Silas is writing. We thought we had it made after Silas’ early-career hit “the poop dance,” but they just keep getting better.

It’s not supposed to work this way, but we jammed all our fun living into the last 48 hours of the blog-week. The work-week was busy, and fortunately best left behind us. There were a few tragic incidences with students on campus this week, and Molly was particularly affected. They’re definitely perspective-altering moments and leave us thankful that our kids are near us and healthy.
We decided to change our scenery on Saturday so we drove up to Chalfont to spend some time with my parents, Jeremy, Ayanna and Kamea. Kamea will be walking whenever she has a compelling reason- the skills are definitely there. It was a relaxing visit, me yammering about things that need fixing on the new house, and dad yacking about what exercises might limber up his cranky legs. We didn’t put two and two together, but now that I think about it, he obviously needs to spend a few weeks climbing tall ladders working on our new house. Genius! You start Friday, dad!
Molly’s dad landed in town this afternoon and we showed him around the new neighborhood, peering in the house’s windows, gazing out over the back 40 (ft sq) and pointing out all the broken things which need repair. We walked a few blocks, grabbed a coffee at the anarchist coffee shop, picked up a bottle of wine, and took it to the byo cafe/restaurant which is owned by our (prospective) neighbors. I really do think it’s a cool place to live. All fingers crossed that the final walk-through and settlement goes well later this week. It seems like things are lining up for us. If they do, I’ll have a pile of “before” pictures to throw up on the blog next week. Then each week I’ll update everyone on our progress. Week 1- bought light bulbs. Week 2- bought stepladder to install the lightbulbs (tall ceilings) Week 3- caulked. Week 4- caulked. Week 5- oiled squeaky things. Week 6- seance with ghosts of the departed. And so forth. At some point we’ll need to fix the roof, update the electric, insulate the attic, install new windows, refinish floors, repair a 400 pound 6-foot-wide pocket door, remedy situations which endanger the welfare of a child, hang pictures, etc. Maybe we should sell bonds.
yeah, Silas has mastered the mouse ! Now to listen to the story – it’s the same one my first graders listened to this week, how cool is that 🙂 My love to all, Babbee
