In the past few years (since August 7 2009) I have often said, “I’ll finish the post up quickly before the kid wakes up.” Well right now there are two kids liable to wake up any second, which makes blog posts somehow 4x more difficult to write. And in addition I had about 290 pictures to edit down before selecting some for this week. So I’ll write fast.
We stayed in Chalfont at my parents’ house for most of the week. They were repairing the bath drain of the apartment above ours, which necessitated ripping the ceiling out of our bathroom. The floor of the bathroom above turned out to be 8 inches of concrete. We arrived home yesterday afternoon to a very fine covering of spackle and cement dust throughout our house. Three hours of cleaning later it was livable. Welcome home, huh? It was a flashback to some of our home-improvement projects in Madison, where we quickly learned that spackle dust is a plague.
My parents were saints in helping out with both kids. Silas and I have had sinus problems for almost two weeks, so we have both been unpleasant to deal with. We got some rest during the week, but not a lot, because we simply don’t have a routine yet. We’re so glad to be home to get ourselves settled. When we arrived home yesterday our full car puked into our living room and we’ve been cleaning up ever since. We must have done 10 loads of laundry so far, travel clothes and dusty linens included.
Molly and Asher both have pink eye- Asher has eye drops but Molly doesn’t. When she called her doctor yesterday they said that since their office is closed on the weekend she’d have to go to the ER if she wanted to be seen. What a joke- soaring health care costs- I wonder why? She did not go to the ER, btw.
Molly’s dad visited us on Monday before we left for Chalfont. He gave Silas a little-boy-sized metal taxi, which Silas has hardly stopped playing with since. Every time he loses it Silas loses his cool- it’s quite aggravating, but if it wasn’t the taxi it would be something else.
We’re hosting Thanksgiving at our place this week (actually in the larger apartment of the traveling Faculty Master.) After the household wakes up we’re headed out to the grocery store to begin the process. We don’t even have a list yet- I need to put that on my list.
I complained a lot in the last few paragraphs, but in summary we are home, getting settled, about to see a bunch of family, and aside from minor bacterial infections are doing great. Silas is nothing but a sweetheart with his little brother, and Asher seems an easy kid, who is getting constantly cuter, although still quite red. And I’d better upload the photos quick before the kids wake up.

Adam, your sinus infection didn’t hamper your photo-taking ability, they are super.
I love all the pics, and remembering that the post is on Sunday was sweet š Can’t wait to see all of you in just a few days. My love to all, Babbee
