I don’t know when fall starts on the calender, but here in Philadelphia it started Tuesday. Frost covered the ground in the shade, and we wore long johns for the first time. The first time in a few months that is.
I mentioned our halloween plans last week, and we did host kids from west Philly in the quad on Friday. Unfortunately Silas is terrified of masks. Terrified. So while Molly gave out candy at our door, I managed Silas, to keep masked kids out of sight. We took Silas out later to the west Philly Halloween parade, which stops at a few lavishly decorated blocks. Silas didn’t appreciate the spectacle, largely since we wouldn’t let him eat candy, and we kept him away from kids in masks.
Then there was the non-halloween-related screaming. Another faze, whereby he screams for no apparent (to us) reason. Occasionally it’s for attention, and other times he seems to be entertaining himself. Anyway it stinks. Meals are the worst. But he’s grown out of all the other fazes, so here is to hoping. Chink Chink.
We’re looking forward to the weekend, when we clean up the week’s accumulated mess in our apartment. Hot dog. But on Sunday we’re heading to the Barnes museum; that should be legitimately cool.
Special thanks to April this week, in wrangling Silas onto the chair and trying to keep him there. The boy has some energy.
Silas is down for a nap now, so as usual I best get the photos up before I lose this window of peace.
The first photo (one full frame, one cropped) show Silas as he crashed down the gate in our apartment while wearing his dinosaur outfit. It is the very moment he hit the ground. Perhaps I should have been next to him instead of back down the hall taking pictures.
