Years of hard work, ten years? have finally paid off. Molly successfully defended her dissertation, “Excavating Experimentalism,” this Monday at UW Madison. She has a virtual doctorate. Papers still need to be filed by May 15, and she has some typos to fix, but that should be a formality. Silas and I are very proud of her, particularly if this is her last degree. Let her hear it in the comments!
Second big news… after weeks of scooting backwards around the living room Silas has finally discovered forward motion. The other day he saw my foot across the carpet and started crawling straight for it. So now things are going to be different and we need to baby proof for real. No videos yet on that. He’s so far eluded my camera.
Yesterday we hosted a dinner for 15 of Molly’s students from her 380 class. We had a big spread of taco salad. I prepared 3 times too much food as usual. No joke. And that one day before we’re hitting the road going to Philadelphia to visit some folks. Leftover taco salad is hardly road food. Silas was a big hit at the dinner, playing the role of happy vocal infant.
Need to post this now as Silas and I need to hit the Home Depot to pick up the flooring we ordered. Our kitchen floor is particle board right now. This post is a day early of course, as we’ll be on I-76 all day tomorrow.
Congratulations on your success, Molly, after all the hard work and perseverance! It is a big deal! Congratulations Adam, for your support and maybe proof-reading?, and another set of wonderful photos! Congratulations Silas on being constantly cute and happy and interesting! Lots of love to you all, Grandma W
What a year to be celebrated, a beautiful baby boy and a dissertation completed – quite the woman that Molly has grown up to be !!! I love the pic of Silas and the dissertation, and the caption brings it all to life in a very “Adam” way 🙂 Silas’ hair is getting longer by the week, there is definately something to be combed now. Silas’ smiles are infectious as always. Thanks goes to you Adam for all the support, encouragement and co-management of the household. Love to all, Babbee
Way to go, Molly!
Pretty sure the first photo comment is genius.
